Our Story; Roddy Deans

Updated: Sep 23, 2024

I grew up in a Rugby town and I feel lucky to have been influenced by many wise people over the years. The game has given me vast opportunities and its core values has shaped my life.

I will be forever grateful to the mentors in my life who looked after me as a challenging young man. My PE teachers at Hawick High School were also my heroes and gave me the inspiration to follow my own dream to become a PE teacher.  The legend, Rob Moffat, saw something in me and chose to give me the opportunity to become a Director of Rugby at a leading School, my ultimate dream job….the rest is history.

This is my why……I am now in the position to be that mentor to many young people; this fills me with immense pride and joy. I like nothing better than to see a player achieve their goals, whether it’s as simple as improving basic skills, being selected in an A team, making new friends, overcoming their fears or helping them achieve their ultimate goal of playing for their Country.

I have been very fortunate to coach at every level of the game and to have worked with many incredibly talented players and experienced coaches. This has given me a rich knowledge of how to get the best out of everyone.

TOTUM will afford me the chance to continue to fulfil my passions of making people better and watching players thrive within our supportive and challenging environment.
